Reference guideUpright piano dimensions and weight: a manufacturer reference.
The table below collects manufacturer reference dimensions for five upright models commonly seen on the used market in Singapore. These are reference figures for those models, not measurements of the used piano being offered and not a promise that any of them is available.

Five common uprights, measured by their makers.
Every figure below is from the manufacturer’s own published reference: Yamaha Singapore U Series, Yamaha Singapore YUS Series, Kawai K-300 and Kawai K-500. These are current model references, not specifications for every used piano from every production year.
| Model | Height | Width | Depth | Weight | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha U1 | 121 | 153 | 62 | 228 kg | Yamaha SG U Series |
| Yamaha U3 | 131 | 153 | 65 | 246 kg | Yamaha SG U Series |
| Yamaha YUS5 | 131 | 152 | 65 | 253 kg | Yamaha SG YUS Series |
| Kawai K-300 | 122 | 149 | 61 | 227 kg | Kawai Global |
| Kawai K-500 | 130 | 150 | 62 | 238 kg | Kawai Global |
The Yamaha rows use the Singapore reference tables, including the U3 mass of 246 kg shown in that source. Other regions or production variants may publish different figures. The Kawai rows use the Global model references. These are attributed reference values, not measured weights for Music Companion’s stock.
Three separate questions from the same table.
A dimension table answers three distinct questions. They are worth keeping separate:
- Physical footprint: the rectangular width and depth of the case. Separately measure the bench, the player’s position and any additional space needed for access or servicing. The room planner lets you enter these measurements and check the fit.
- Total weight: one input the provider uses when choosing equipment, crew and handling arrangements. A reference mass does not establish a suitable crew size or prove a floor or delivery route is safe.
- Delivery route: the whole path must be assessed, including doors, lift interiors, turns, stairs and moving equipment. Do not choose a transport orientation from this table. Give the provider the measurements and ask for an assessment of the actual instrument.
The table itself does not tell you whether a piano will fit in your room or through your building. It gives you the figures to check against. Send the model and the route measurements and the delivery team can confirm whether it is practical.
Used instruments and real conditions.
These are manufacturer reference dimensions for current models. A used piano from a different production year or regional variant can differ slightly in any dimension. Piano weight can also vary by production era, internal components and any modifications.
The table does not establish:
- The dimensions or weight of the particular used piano being offered. Confirm the actual instrument.
- Whether a model is structurally safe for a given floor. Consult the building or an appropriately qualified adviser for structural and load-bearing questions.
- Whether a model will fit through a specific building. Measure the route and confirm with the delivery team.
- Current stock or availability. These are reference models, not a stock list.

Dimensions and weight, answered.
How much does a Yamaha U1 weigh?
The Yamaha Singapore U Series table lists 228 kg for its U1 reference model. Weight can vary by production year, variant or fitted equipment. Confirm the particular used instrument and the delivery requirements rather than treating a current regional specification as its measured weight.
How much does a Kawai K-300 weigh?
Kawai’s current K-300 product page lists 227 kg. A used K-300 from a different production year may differ. Ask for the weight of the actual instrument when planning delivery.
Will a 131 cm upright fit through my lift?
Height alone does not determine whether a piano will fit. Width, depth, height, the moving equipment and the full route all matter. Give the provider the model and measurements of doors, lifts and turns; the provider must confirm handling and access for that instrument.
Are these dimensions the same for every used example?
Not necessarily. These are manufacturer reference figures for the current model. Older production years and regional variants can differ slightly. Confirm the dimensions of the particular used piano before committing to a delivery route.
Does the table include the bench and the lid?
The table reproduces the maker’s instrument dimensions; it is not a playing-space or open-lid clearance plan. Measure the actual bench, player space and any additional clearance needed for use or servicing. Confirm what the published measurements include for the particular model.
